How to use the Calendar

New postby Rayvhen » Thu Jul 08, 2010 5:22 pm

Ok, so we now have this nifty calendar at our disposal, but how do we use it to check out upcoming events and register to them if we are interested?

First access the calendar through the link on the top bar.

Cool, uh? Now let's check out the "FT / Krom runs" thread and let's register for it.

Hit submit, and you are done!

If you have further questions, please let me know :)

I would like to add that you can modify your link a bit to get a list of past events or upcoming events. First I will explain how to modify the link, then I will create a couple permalinks elsewhere.

So lets say you would like to get a list going of all upcoming events for the next 10 days.. Change the link to read.

That number in red is the number of days you want a list of upcoming events for. Change it to 5 and you get a list of the next 5 days, if you change it to 30, then its the next 30 days.

On the other hand if you were away for a while and see what you may have missed, then change the link to read:

Note that the 10 was changed to a -10. So simply inserting a negative number will give you a list of the previous events.

If it says "6pm" on the calender with no time zone listed, what time zone is it supposed to be? I can convert time zones in my head just fine, but not if I don't know where I am starting.

I have the same trouble, but being a EST server, I usually set EST times and I try to set it in the description too just in case.

So, if it lacks any extra info, assume EST/Server Time I suppose.

The boards are EDT right now, but the Calendar will show you things in your local timezone as long as you have your time zone and daylight savings set correctly. So if I post an event on the calender for 12:00p EST, and you live out in California and your board settings are correct you will see it as 9:00a PST.

So you can see an example, here is a test event that I created with this account. You can see that it is scheduled for 1:00-2:00p EDT

Here you can see what the calendar looks like to my generic test account. You will notice that it shows up as 10:00-11:00a PDT, and it notes what time zone it was created in.
