Memorial Day

We walked among the crosses
Where our fallen soldiers lay.
And listened to the bugle
As TAPS began to play.

The Chaplin led a prayer
We stood with heads bowed low.
And I thought of fallen comrades
I had known so long ago.

They came from every city
Across this fertile land.
That we might live in freedom.
They lie here ‘neath the sand.

I felt a little guilty
My sacrifice was small.
I only lost a little time
But these men lost their all.

Now the services are over
For this Memorial Day.
To the names upon these crosses
I just want to say,

Thanks for what you’ve given
No one could ask for more.
May you rest with God in heaven
From now through evermore.

Memorial Day

The bugle echoes shrill and sweet,
But not of war it sings to-day.
The road is rhythmic with the feet
Of men-at-arms who come to pray.

The roses blossom white and red
On tombs where weary soldiers lie;
Flags wave above the honored dead
And martial music cleaves the sky.

Above their wreath-strewn graves we kneel,
They kept the faith and fought the fight.
Through flying lead and crimson steel
They plunged for Freedom and the Right.

May we, their grateful children, learn
Their strength, who lie beneath this sod,
Who went through fire and death to earn
At last the accolade of God.

In shining rank on rank arrayed
They march, the legions of the Lord;
He is their Captain unafraid,
The Prince of Peace…Who brought a sword.

The server is back up but I am still waiting for them to reimburse the $80 that should be in the ClanPay system.

The forums have been integrated into the main site.  There is still more work to be done on the overall design regarding appearance as well as some more needs done on integration of user accounts between the front end and the forums.

Calendar:

You may have noticed a new Calendar link at the top of the site.  The Calendar is fully integrated and takes full advantage of the phpBB user database and permissions.  Once we get the user databases properly bridged, it will be spun off as its own entity.   Permissions still need to be set up for the Calendar but it does function and allows the ability to have people sign up for events.  The way we are planning to set up permissions is that the calendar is that it will be viewable by *EVERYONE* who is registered regardless of usergroup.  Creating Events will be reserved to current and former guild members only.  THIS IS IMPORTANT>>>>

EVERYONE who is ever a member of DS at one time or another should belong to the Beyond the Veil group.  As such this is the group that will be assigned permissions to edit the calendar events.  It is vital for those of you with permissions who assign users to a guild group that you add them to Beyond the Veil as well. Please do not edit individual permissions.
